ABOUT DOORS: Our Origin

DOORS was formed in 1990, setting out to become the first parent group to make fund raising an integral part of parent involvement at the Center. The initial goal for the organization was to help establish an adult services program for graduates of the Douglass School, a division of the DDDC. The initial impetus was to build a bridge for those "aging out" of DDDC. With the dream now realized, today DOORS is providing ongoing support to this as well as other programs at the Center.

Our Function

Led by a core and energetic group of parents, DOORS performs many functions but is primarily responsible for fund raising and administering these funds appropriately.

DOORS main source of funds are from fund raising events, three which are held annually:

- A Gala Dinner Dance & Silent Auction

- Golf Tournament

- Professional Conference

Other sources of funds are membership fees, grants, and private donations. In addition, families have held their own events and donated the proceeds to DOORS.

We hope you'll take some time to learn about us by browsing our web site. Please contact us with any questions or suggestions on how we can better provide for these special kids. We're here to listen, and to help.
